Re: Print cluster hanging

Hi Martin,

You may want to start off using KB302539 and try to elimate any third party
port monitors which can cause the hang problems you're experiencing.

302539 How to Troubleshoot Printing Issues on a Windows Server 2003 Cluster
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;302539

If KB302539 doesn't work for you, then call your local Microsoft Customer
Support and Service (CSS) to request the Post SP1 hotfix mentioned in
KB842304 listed below.

842304 Printer performance is slow on a large print server in Windows Server
2003

Hope this helps,

Hello All,

we have an active/active print cluster with two resource groups acting
like
print servers (third is a cluster group). On each virtual print server we
have about 140 printers installed. Both servers are HP DL380 G4 and both
have redundant path to HP eva 5000 storage. Both are windows 2003 x86
without SP1.

Problem:

When we run one print group per node , first node stops working so we have
half of the printers unavailable. The thing is that if we run cluaster
administrator it it's not responding , but if we run cluster
group/res/node/etc... at command line all is showing online status, like
there is no problem. We have to kill cluster service on first node to
failover the group because if we try it manualy it does not work. When all
is running on second node there's no problem. Cluster.log does not show
any
errors. Does anyone have some tips? Many thanks.

Martin
