First, where did you get the advice? White Paper? Friend? Bathroom wall?
Interesting...
DFS standalone is cluster aware and a great idea!

We're setting up a 4-node cluster to serve files to our users. While
we tested and 1 node can theoretically handle the full load, we would
like all nodes to be doing work.
We were told the best way to balance the load is to divy up file shares
across resource groups, and assign the groups to prefered nodes.
However, we've run into a problem. We would like the cluster to appear
as a single "server" to users. This is possible only if we use one
resource group with an IP and name resource, but fails when we have to
create multiple names for multiple resource groups.
What would be the best way to have all 4 nodes working to serve files,
while appearing as a single server to the users? Is it even possible?
Would DFS do the trick (I don't know enough about DFS to know if this
is something it offers)?
Chris
