Clustering and ODBC connection problem

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

We are connecting to a SQL Server Cluster with an ODBC.
When we use an ip and test the connection it is very slow. there is a fix
(300420) but we have checked all and we are current still same problem.
Idea's???
