Re: NT4 Cluster change to new SAN



So the idea is to REUSE the existing servers and simply swing their HBA
connections to the new DELL SAN? This sounds like a less-than-desirable
operation. I would heartily encourage the customer to purchase new nodes
and build the new cluster in parallel and migrate the data to the new SAN.

I believe that you'd run into some serious issues with trying to
"pre-create" shared disks on the new SAN, copy the data and THEN connect the
servers to the SAN. The migrated servers would need to write signatures to
the disks and I'm not sure that they'd react favorably to having all of
their shared disks removed (the MA8000) and then get connected to new
storage. I don't believe this is a supported process.
