Hi Stephan,

Without fully knowing how this Cluster server is configured, the simple
answer is as follows. Although Windows Server 2003 has a more robust
networking and storage mechanism to detect failures, you may still encounter
a downstream network failure like a failed router or gateway that will not
be detected.

Hopefully, the first article should explain to you what happens in Windows
Server 2003 when both NICs fail for the Cluster Service and the second
article should explain how the arbitration piece works in managing disk
ownership for the Cluster Service.
