Hello, I hope someone can answer this for me.
I have W2K/SP4 clustering and it is Exchange 2003.
In the roling upgrade documentation, I see the things
that are supported and not during a rolling upgrade.
It shows NNTP and SMTP as one of them. Of course they
have to be there to run Exchange.
"SMTP Service is not supported in W2003 Enterprise
Edition, therefor you must remove any SMTP
Service "resources" prior to upgrading."
I have upgraded the FE server and the SMTP service "in
Services" is still there.
I am running a A/A cluster and there are SMTP virtual
service resources in each group.
Q1: Do I need to remove these and put them back
afterwards.
This would not be a rolling upgrade since my SMTP would
be down completely.
Q2: If everything is failed over to the second node.
there would be no SMTP resources on the node I was
upgrading.

Has anyone really done a rolling upgrade. and is it a
good thing. I think this is what I want to do here.
Just want to know before starting. EX2003 upgrade went
very good and smooth.

Thanks ahead of time.
Post here or send email straight to me. thanks.
