Hello Carlos Alaor de Mello Jr,

I meant different languages on the DC's, so both are Portuguese?

You are using this subnet:
Host address: 172.16.0.0 (This is a network, not a host) Network: 172.16.0.0 (Class B, CIDR/10, 1022 hosts) Network mask: 255.255.252.0 Broadcast address: 172.16.3.255 First host address: 172.16.0.1 Last host address: 172.16.3.254

So whay has one server 172.16.40.3? x.x.40.x falls out of the range according to the subnet mask from pirapora-c.

Are both servers in the same domain or just using the same domain name, this will be different?

If you have 2 DNS servers use itself as preferred and the other as secondary with there "real" 172.x.x.x address.

Hello Carlos Alaor de Mello Jr,

Hello Meinolf,

Are there really shown this characters + (|||) ? Do you use different
OS languages on the DC's?

Yes. I use the Portguese Brazil version of Windows 2003.

RPC service unavailable can be DNS. If you run a domain make sure to
use only domain internal DNS servers on the NIC's, no others like
your ISP's. An unedited ipconfig /all could be really helpful.

I have 2 DCs. Each one has a DNS server, and the DNS configuration is
pointing for itself.

A question: The DNS must point to the local IP (172.16.0.4 and
172.16.40.3) or the localhost ip (127.0.0.1) ? or doesn´t matter?

To test DC's install the support\tools\suptools.msi form the
installation disk on the DC's. Then you can use dcdiag /v, netdiag /v
and repadmin /showrepl or start replmon (GUI version for replication)
from the run line, for checking the DC's health. Also the event
viewer is a starting point for error messages.

I made a lot of tests with this tools... I will put all the
information with screenshots in the Skydrive.

Best regards

Thanks!

Carlos

Hello ALL.

When I change the permission of a directory, searching for the
username returns the name + (|||) and a error message appears: "Not
possible to find names to exibition" or "Not possible to retrive all
the objects information".

Sometimes returns "RPC service unavailable"

Can be a SRV DNS problem?

I have two Windows 2003 Std DCs.

How can I test to know if everything is working ok with DNS and the
replication system?

ps: Sorry for the English mistakes.

Thanks.

Carlos Mello Jr
