Thanks for being so responsive to this. I changed the DNS settings on both
the server side nic from the SBS and the 2008 nic too. Each one has
themselves as the preferred DNS. I went into DHCP, under ipv4 i right clicked
and added the two options which already had option 006 and 015. I left ipv6
alone. which i can hopefully remove later.
I should be able to check the config now?
Do I need to manually change the DNS on each client to preferred (2008 box)
and secondary (SBS) or does it magically work.
I like when things magically work.

Unfortunately, tt is not magic. It is all configuration based following basic rules of engagement. Please follow my recommendations, as well as Meinolf's to get your DC working properly. Do not wait to disable IPv6. It is a known issue with communications when it is not used by other machines in a domain.
