Re: broken domain joint

Hello Tony,

Assuming that 192.168.0.4 is the second DC/DNS the output loooks fine. So nltest command as Paul suggested to run also gives no error?

Best regards

Hello Tony,

DNS problems can result in this errors, please post an unedited
ipconfig /all from the DC's and one problem client. Small remark for
NewSid, machines chagned with that tool are not supported from MS. MS
only supports sysprepped computers.

Best regards

Hi, No problem appreciate your help.

I used the tool "Newsid" and at the same time got the app to change
the machine name.

Hi Meinolf,

I have had the odd PC lose the domain before but they have always
been few and far between.

Yes only workstations.

All cloned machines have been prepared by having newsids applied
and obviously renamed prior to being joined to the domain.

To date there has been no failure of DC

Hello Tony,

Are that only workstations?

Are they cloned without being sysprepped?

Did you have any kind of failure or restore of the DC's before?

Best regards

Hi Meinolf,

I have run the tools you requested, these produced no new errors
in the event logs. I do have a few Kerberos errors such as

"The kerberos client received a KRB_AP_ERR_MODIFIED error from
the
server
LIBRARY-00$.
The target name used was cifs/SPARE.STDAVIDS.LOCAL.
This indicates that the password used to encrypt the kerberos
service
ticket
is different than that on the target server.
Commonly, this is due to identically named machine accounts in
the
target
realm (STDAVIDS.LOCAL), and the client realm.
Please contact your system administrator."

Hello Tony,

Check the event viewers on the DC's and run diagnostic tools
dcdiag /v, netdiag /v and repadmin showrepl. If errors are
displayed please post the complete output here. You can change
computernames/domainnames if you are worried about posting them
here.

Hi,
I have noticed this morning that a number of PC's had lost the
domain
and
had to be rejoined, does anyone know why this would have
happened?
