Isaac,
There are three directories within the logs directory. Each contains an
ADPrep.log file last modified in late February of 2009; however, each one is
empty.

Todd,.
Please post your most recent adprep logs so we can have a look. it is
located in the w2k3
%systemroot%\debug\adprep\logs by default that should be

Isaac,
I removed the 2008 server from the domain and rebooted it. I then re-ran
the adprep's and rebooted. Still having the same problem.
Thanks,
Todd

Todd,
Did you run adprep /forestprep and adprep /domainprep with the W2K8
server
already joined to the the domain?
At the end of the adprep /forestprep did you see "Adprep successfully
updated the forest-wide information".
Verify that schema update was successful by:
type adsiedit.msc (at command prompt or at run)
Expand the Configuration naming context, the
CN=Configuration,DC=YourDomainName,DC=COM container and then the
CN=ForestUpdates container underneath and verify that the
CN=ActiveDirectoryUpdate container is present.
Right click on the CN=ActiveDirectoryUpdate container and click
Properties.
Scroll down and check the value of the Revision attribute. If the
operation
was successful, the value will be 2
Expand the Schema container, right click on the
CN=Schema,CN=Configuration,DC=YourDomainName,DC=COM container and click
Properties. Scroll down and check the value of the objectVersion
attribute.
if the operation was successful, the value will be 44.
If the operation was NOT successful,
Here are my suggestions:
Remove (disjoin) the W2K8 server from the domain
Insert the W2K8 installation disk into the W2K3 Domain controller and run
adprep /forestprep and adprep
/domainprep and reboot .You must use an account that is a member of the
schema admins.
Hope this helps

I have one Server 2003 PC total in my environment. I'd like the add the
first Server 2008 PC (it's already in the domain). When I run dcpromo,
a
message states I need to prepare the forest. I've run adprep
/forestprep
(and entered C, then enter) and adprep /domainprep /gpprep on the
Server
2003
PC. The Server 2008 PC continues to state I must prepare the forest.
I've
updated the Server 2003 PC to SP2, and installed all critical MS
updates.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
