Re: permissions in active directory

Hello hasnain,

So the workstations are still in a workgroup and not joined to the domain? Then the users need a domain user account to access the shares on the DC. Better join the machines to the domain and configure user accounts and dsiable the local machine accounts, move all data from workstations to the server and configure a share security regarding to the needs of your company structure.

Best regards

Greetings Meinolf.

well i have not changed any permissions, all of them are set to
default in Win 08 Std Server

B4 adding this server all the pcs were standalone workstations in a
workgroup and hence all the files and printers were shared locally.
Now we installed a server with ADS running

i have shared a folder on the network and can see it locally but from
other pcs i cant view it says access denied.

i have created groups on the ADS putting all the respective users to
their particular groups. and then added groups to the folders for read
only access could that be the problem? do i have to add every user one
by one?

please advice

Thanks
