IF you're dealing only with one folder for all users, I agree that could be easier, applying the quota at the root level everything else is calculated automatically.

Yes, they are the owners of the files in their home directory.
Would this be easier toaccomplish by just setting disk quotas on the server
drive that holds the student folders?
