Hello Shan,

Use ADMT v3.1 for migrating to a 2008 domain with another name:

Or use the domain rename tool to rename the domain before or after adding
the 2008 to the domain.

Whaterver option you will take, make it first in a test environment before
doing it in the production so that you have some small experience with them.

Hi,

We will be retiring our windows server 2003 domain controller. We are
buying new hardware and will be using Windows Server 2008 with a new
domain name. Is it possible to transfer all the AD users from the old
server to the new one and all the desktop be redirected to the new
server? All the user profiles reside on the individual PCs. If yes
what is the best approach for that and how can we not have to unjoin
and rejoin with the new domain controller?

I really appreciate your input.
