James Robertson <JamesRobertson@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> requesting assistance, typed the following:
I have three DC's each saying NTFRS_CMD_FILE_MOVE_ROOT. I have
applied the file to two and not the PDC but they are not able to
replicate from the PDC so they have not created new SYSVOL Folders.
If I apply this to the last remaining PDC will this wipe out
everything in the SYSVOL folder causing me a complete AD
reconstruction?

Thanks
James

Hi James,

As stated, there's a bit of a terminology skew. I believe you more than likely mean you have either Windows 2000 or 2003 domain controllers, however the terminology used (PDC) hints at NT4 domain controllers.

Assuming they are 2000 or 2003 domain controllers, to better assist, besides running the utilities Paul suggested and checking and posting any event log errors, as Meinolf and Florian suggested, can you post the following information for us to better assist you please? This will help us gain a better fundamental understanding of the infrastructure and configuration of the domain controllers.

1. Unedited ipconfig /all
2. The name of the domain as it shows in Active Directory Users and Computers
3. The name of the domain name (the zone) in DNS.
4. If updates are allowed into the zone
5. If the SRV records show up in the zone (_msdcs, _sites, _tcp, and _udp)
6. What replication scopes are the zones set to? This question applies to Windows 2003. You would check in the zone properties, replication button. If Windows 2000, let us know if the zone is AD integrated.
7. Are all domain controllers 2003, 2000 or mixed 2000 and 2003?

Thank you!
