Hi Adam, firstly please accept there is no 100% guaranteed way to stop your
users running unauthorised software. Group policy can prevent specific apps
from running, by creating software restriction policies:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb457006.aspx
If you have specific application to block, i.e firefox then create a hash
rule in group policy software restriction policies. Hope that helps.
James.

I have Windows 2003 AD running with XP workstations..
My users are Power Users to the desktops.
They cannot install software but I find they can install toolbars and
programs like Firefox.
Is there a way to prevent this?
I currently need them as Power Users as the Web Conf system will not run
unless they are power users. Its a lost battle with the Conf software
support.
I want a reliable way to make sure only autherized software is installed.
