Hello create_share,

If not configured, the policy default will be 10. Any value above 50 will only cache 50 logon attempts.

no he did not change his password and secondly, yes it is Windows XP
Professional SP2 computer. The policy for caching Password is not
activated. Should i activate it and put the number 50 and isn't there
an unlimited number of logon option without a domain controller. What
if i add this domain user in local users group in that windows xp pro
computer when he comes back?

I have not seen this on XP, but in Windows 2000 Professional my
laptop would often lose theit Cached credentials.

Has this ever worked or does it fail after X amount of days?

Hi!

I have many notebook users who travel a lot. One of my users got
problem
with his domain user account while he was outside of the country.
When he
tried to login he got a message "System can't log you on because
the
Domain
"Domain Name" is not available". My question is that is there any
password
retention period for windows 2003 domain?
thanks!
