AD Trust Breaks - object found same name as domain. Help Please :(

Hi All
I hope there is an AD expert that may help.
Problem: Trust relationship between child and parent (root) domain appears
to break, and maybe a sheer coincidance, but an object has appeared with the
SAME name as the Root Domain
Root Domain Name: Acrobat.corp
Child Domain Name: NA.Acrobat.corp
For 3 years, AD has been solid, with no changes made. 3 months ago, the
trust was broken between NA and Acrobat.corp
We managed to get the trust back in place, but after further investigation,
we also discovered what appears to be a "user object" called Acrobat.corp in
the default users container within AD. This object is disabled, but right
clicking and going to properties seems to indicate its a computer.
Interestingly, our Desktop Support Team advised that recently, some new
Desktops have been appearing on the domain as "acrobat" as the computer name.
Before they were called acrobat they had a genuine unique computer name.
I since discovered that a remote method of updating the BIOS may well have
caused this on Dell computers. This is still under investigation.
However, this week the trust broke again, and I discovered a genuine
computer name had changed the same day the trust broke.
I am at a loss if I can go ahead and delete this computer object found in
the root domain. Importantly, could the introduction of a computer name
called "Acrobat" really have caused all this amount of pain?
We still do not know why or how the computer name changes, but we believe
the support team enter the company name during the BIOS update, and somehow
the name is changing the computer name!
Has anyone seen this? Would the sort of issues I am seeing actually cause
the trust relationship to fail? (ie: a new object called acrobat come onto
the domain and into the Root domain Acrobat).
Also, note: The renamed object is NOT fully on the domain. The computer
loses its trust relationship when you try to logon, which I would guess is
expected
Any help, warmly welcome !
Thank you
.
