Re: AD replication IPCONFIG /ALL

Good Morning Meinholf,

My original network design , with budgetary restraints , demanded only one
fileserver but I had to establish 2 networks due to bandwidth considerations
NETWORK1 was my legacy business network and NETWORK2 was to be doing GIS and
other highbandwidth applications....... so I established 2 separate
networks... this legacy topological setup has not caused any operations
problems and dispite many folks apprehensions( which I am well aware of ) to
mulihome a server this setup has served us well and with that said I have
not changed it over the years
Now , since all that was implemented........ and that I now have a very
nice Cisco L3 switch in place....... I will not need to have the mulitihomed
scenario with my NEW DC

Hello Dan,

Why does DC1 have 2 different ip addresses? Multihoming DC's should be avoided
for a lot of reasons.

Hello Dan,

That replication works connect needs at first a correct DNS
configuration, so please post an unedited ipconfig /all form both
servers that we can verify this. Also post the complete output's from
the tools Paul Bergson pointed you to.

I have and exiting 2000 mixed mode domain just added a 2003 server
into the
mix and promoted it to DC The AD transfer happened but I am not
sure
everything is operating correctly I am under the impression that
as it
standas at this point that my AD (long with my AD integrated DNS)
should be
replicating between these to DC's ?? If so It appears to NOT be
happening
How canI verify this ? I did create a dummy user ( me hehehe) in
the AD
on the new DC..... but havent observed the new user over in my
2000
server
AD not sure if I am under the correct assumptions that I should
see
these changes reflected between the 2 in a very quick fashion? for
that matter before I decommision the old existing w2k DC I should
see the AD correclty replicating between the 2 ?
thanks
