The upgrade install did not ask for a password, nor give the opportunity to
enter one.
I am going to have another try at programs that patch the password entry,
and if that doesn't work will have to do a fresh install.

I forgot to mention. Try going through reinstalling it as an Upgrade instead
of a Repair. That will upgrade it to whatever version the CD is and won't
harm current settings, profiles, data, etc. Don't forget to update it
afterwards with the current SP, hotfixes, etc.
