Hello,
I have re-tested the restored procedure again. This time, my original
server and my new server have no SP.
The first restore, I choose the following:
System State
System Files
The restore went fine!! I just had to reinstall any missing applications
before the simulated crash.
The second attemp to restore, i choose everything except the ASR and the
third party software directory. I was able to see Windows come up. But when
I attempted to log in I get the following:
A Windows Product Activation error dialog box. "A problem is preventing
Windows from accurately checking license for this computer". Error Code
0x8007002.
I have read the following link but it doesn't make sense!!
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=310794
I also tried the following where I go (in safe mode) to the %system
root%\system32 and run the command for each of the following to register them
by still have no luck!!
regsvr32 licwmi.dll
regsvr32 regwizc.dll
regsvr32 licdll.dll
regsvr32 jscript.dll
regsvr32 vbscript.dll
regsvr32 msxml.dll
regsvr32 shdocvw.dll
regsvr32 softpub.dll
regsvr32 wintrust.dll
regsvr32 initpki.dll
regsvr32 dssenh.dll
regsvr32 rsaenh.dll
regsvr32 gpkcsp.dll
regsvr32 sccbase.dll
regsvr32 slbcsp.dll
regsvr32 cryptdlg.dll

Paul,
You might be right. I just checked and the newly server I built didn't
have
any sp pack.
I do a test again and see how it goes.

Were you at the same service pack level as prior to the install? I have
run
into odd problems unless I am. I do a full system restore w/o issue.

Thanks for your response.
I am working with our vendor EMC (pending) to assist me through this
process
but like to gain more knowledge if I am doing it correctly.
These are the major steps I taken to restore:
1. Rebuild the server by installing the base OS, with same name, IP,
etc.
2 Install the backup client from EMC.
3. choose the directories/files to be restored.
-system state
-system files
-system DB
- C:\ (all of c drive except the emc program location specified by
the
vendor).
4. Reboot.
I am getting the following message after the reboot:
Windows could not start because of an error in the software.
Please report this problem as:
load needed DLLs for kernel.
Please contact your support person to report this problem.
Am I choosing the correct directories/files?
This server is a barebone OS (with only the antivirus software
installed)
Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Hi
Make sure that the server has no connection to the production
environment
where the original server is.
