Hello gira,

No, user can still logon if a GC is not available. If there are universal groups and user belong to it, they use cached credentials after the first logon with an available GC.

Multidomain forest, is GC needed for logons even when there are no
universal
groups?
Does it need to query the GC anyway during logons to see if the user
belongs
to a universal group even when there's no universal groups?
