Thank you for your help.
What OS and Service Pack are you using to modify group policy?I tried Vista SP1 with RSAT installed. Also, I tried member server Windows
2008 (version 6.0; build 6001; sevice pack 1) and windows XP and windows 2003
SP2
The group policy looks no different with windows 2003. The Prefrences do
not show up.
What am I missing?
Thanks a lot.

Thank you for your help.
I did install client extention but I still can not see Prefrences.
Also
System services does not show in the GPMC console. To answer your last question, yes - you can disable a service through
group
policy. If you're editing the group policy, go to:
Computer Configuration\Windows Settings\Security Settings\System
Services
I have windows 2003 DCs and most XP SP2 PCs and several Vista computers.
Thank you.

This can only be done by Vista SP1 with the RSAT tools installed, or on a
Server 2008 machine with the Group Policy Management feature enabled. The
best reference I can give is this KB:

Thank you for your help.
How do I add GP preference to the group policy?
Thank you.

What exactly do you mean by you "can not see Preferences in group

Do you mean you added GP preferences on your Server 2008 server and
now
want
to see that change on your Vista machine? Or are you trying to edit
Group
Policy preferences from your Vista machines?
To answer your last question, yes - you can disable a service through
group
