Thank you sir, but I kind of understood that. My question was about the
DHCP scopes to use per site. Again, I know how to authorize the DHCP, but
the question was do I need to only use the scope (subnet) for that site I
am on?
The scope is only going to work on the subnet it is for in the first
place,..so I don't see the point of the question. A DHCP Server can "live"
anywhere on any subnet and it has no effect on what subnet it can "service"
as long as the Routers between the subnets forward the DHCP Queries to the
DHCP Server and it has a correct Scope to "answer" the Query with . However
I do *not* recommend you make it that complicated, paticularly with slow WAN
links involved.
Just do this:
Each Site is its own IP Subnet (has to be that way for AD Sites to function
anyway)
Each Site has its own DC/DNS/DHCP Server (just run them all on one box)
Create a Standard Scope for that subnet on that server
Scope should be the whole IP Range with Exclusions blocking out the
Statically used IP#s,
Scope Reservations should never be more than a handfull,..if more than that
then just leave them as Excluded,..Statically assign them, and forget it
...authorize the DHCP service.
Done.
Run mail on its own dedicated server or servers.
