Re: Can't manage computer over the network

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

This is not a VM issue. The Server 2008 machine running on the VM is now part
of my AD domain. I have a shared folder on the DC that both the Vista PC and
Server 2008 machine can map as drives. I can ping my DC from Server 2008, but
not vice-versa. I can also ping my DC from the Vista PC that hosts the VM,
but not vice-versa. I can use my AD "Manage Computer" MMC to manage the Vista
PC, but not the Server 2008 machine running in the VM.

If I post an unedited output of ipconfig /all from all machines, I'll get
hacked. Is there any other way that you can help me?

Thanks.

Hello HotmailUser,

The 2008 is member server of the domain? Can you ping between the servers
with ip address, computername and FQDN? Please post an unedited ipconfig
/all from both computers.

Best regards

I have Windows Server 2008 running on a Virtual Server 2005 R2 SP1 VM
that is hosted on a Vista PC. My domain controller is Windows Server
2003. When I go to Active Directory Users and Computers on the DC and
right click on the Server 2008 object and select "Manager Computer", I
get an error message that says the computer can't be found.

How do I fix this? Because of this, I can't seem to register any SPNs
that target Server 2008. Even if I do register the SPN, it doesn't
show up in "setspn -L".

The first time I did this I could manage the Server 2008 machine over
the network and I got Kerberos delegation to work flawlessly across my
network. I've since had to rebuild all 3 PCs involved and now nothing
works.

Please help.

Thanks.
