Hi Meinolf,
That worked thanks. I set that in our default domain policy. Now say I
wanted that in a OU would I put it in the same location? I have one user in
that OU as a test and it didn't seem to apply to him when I did that...but I
didn't test it to much. Also does it hurt that this method seems to be
appling that registry entry everytime the computer boots. Wouldn't it just
need to do it once..is there a method just to have it do it one time or
doesn't it matter or do anything by aplying that entry everytime?
Thanks!

Hello Jim,.
Because the regkey correspondents to HK LOCAL MACHINE run it as a startup
script not as a logon script. The user will have no rights to modify the
registry. With a startup script you use the system account to modify it and
it should work.

Hi Meinolf Thanks for sending me down the right path....that was much
easier. I created a bat file and a registry file and and set it all up
to run as my user logon script. The workstation says it ran the script
but the setting is not taking effect. I have both my reg and bat file
in the sysvol \ scripts folder defined by the show button. Appearently
the machine can't get out to that folder as some type of security
issue? After I logon into the machine and run the bat file from that
folder it works ok.
Here is bat file : regedit /s
\\www.dc_nt.com\SysVol\www.dc_nt.com\Policies\{95A60632-7E92-4E25-BAA9
-2423E98B36F5}\Machine\Scripts\Startup\screensavertimeout.reg
If the bat file can't get to that location how do I make the security
so it can or where else can I stick my reg file so the bat file can
get to it?
Thanks in Advance!

Hello Jim,
If you read this article, http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310516 you
will also see how to add a reg key. With a batch file (newkey.bat) as
a startup script or logon script containing, so no need for .adm:
regedit.exe /s path of .reg file

Hello,
Yes that is what I want to do and I know how to manually add that
registry
entry to a workstation. what I need is a way to add this registry
entry to
all workstations in my domain...And I believe I need to do this with
a
Custom
ADM file and somehow add it to my GPMC. Can anyone help with this?

Hello Jim,
Just to get you correct, you will wait 5 minutes ,when the
screensaver runs to be aible unlocking it without requiring a
password?
Anyway, you can add it with a .reg file according to this:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310516
Also see here, with a known problem:

Hi,
We are implementing a screensaver policy and I have used GPMC to
enable the
screen saver and set the timeout period in the user
configuration\administrative templates\control panel\display
Now we would like to use the screensavergraceperiod registry
option
on
all the pc's but I don't see that anywhere in the group policy. If
that isn't a group policy option is there a way I can could add
this
registry setting to all our workstations in our domain?
Here is the registry setting:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows
NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon] "ScreenSaverGracePeriod"="300"
Thanks for any help!
Jim
