Re: Not Creating Computer Accounts - Strange Issue

Hello Chris,

Site internal the deleting of the account from AD will be replicated in some seconds, but if you have also other sites in your domain replication will take longer, default is 3 hours, minimum you can set is 15 minutes or you have to start replication from hand.

Hi Guys,

I use the domain admin account to re add the computers to the domain.
I'll copy the event viewer tomorrow as had a hectic day today.

Meinholf, Are you saying i need to wait for replication of the
computer account deletion to all other site dc's before i try to re
create the computer account in the same site it was deleted from?

Hello Chris,

What groups is the account member of? Has it get the rights delegated
to join comupters? PLease describe the configured settings for the
acount you use. Also post the complete error from the event viewer.
How long is the time between deleteing and rejoining the machine with
the same name? Did you wait/check replication to all other DC's after
deleting the computer name from AD?

Best regards

I'm really struggling to find out why this problem is happening..

If i am reinstalling an PC and i delete it from AD before
reinstalling it, when i bring it back into the domain it sayd it has
joined the domain successfully but it does not create a computer
object and i get errors in the event viewer on the pc saying it
cannot locate a dc after the pc is rebooted. What i ahve to do is
put the pc into a workgroup, reboot, rename pc, reboot, rename back
and then bring it back into domain. I sometimes have to do this
numerous times.

This only happens when the computer is being re joined to the domain
as it's previous name.

it doesn't happen if it is a new name.

We have 1 AD domain
8 sites.
each site has it's own subnet and dc's placed accordingly
DHCP point each client to the 2 dc/dns servers in its own site
ad integrated DNS
We have no errors in Replication etc
No errors in DNS
Any one ever seen this before?
