Apparently I am missing something, but I am in the process of looking
up new backup software for my company.
I want to create a central backup server and then have that server do
a remote transfer to an off-site location.
A few different software packages I looked at had almost all of the
features I wanted but there was one stickler, they do not backup file
permissions.
Which one do you test? BackupExec for example did it.
The funny thing is, they all state that "the software will backup
Active Directory though."
Does A/D hold the NTFS permissions of each file and folder in the
domain?
No, stored on the local server, AD will store the accounts and groups that you are using to set the rights.
What am I missing here? Something is going way over my head.
TIA
