Auditing folders on member servers

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

What are the steps to setup auditing for folders located on member servers?
We applied the Audit Directory Service Access event on the DC in the Domain
Security Policy (and Domain Controller Security policy just for the heck of
it), added the users and auditing events on the folder located on the member
server, granted the Audit rights for the users and group to the member server
in Active Directory Users and Computers, and applied the GPUpdate /force
command. Yet the DC Security Log still does not seem to capture the access
events for the member server folder. Did we forget or miss a step in there
somewhere? We really just want to audit simple access, read, write, and
delete events to that one folder. TIA ...
