Thanks Lanwench,
Finally I found the root cause was the user manually assigned an IP address
instead of getting from DHCP pool, as the result the DNS record did not
reflect the change.
After updating the DNS record, the problem is gone.

Hi,
I got same problem. Though I have enabled "always wait for network at
startup and logon" for all workstations via group policy, some of
workstations still encounter the problem. Logoff and login can
reconnect the home drive. But most of users do not like this way. Any
update on this?
Thanks in advance.

Check your event logs, and gpresult & rsop to make sure the policy is
actually being applied....

Hi,
In ADUC user account properties, it is defined H: drive connecting
to \\fileserver\user$\%username%.
However, quite often when a user logs on to the computer only
finds H: drive mapped to \\fileserver\users$.
I tried manually re-map H: drive to \\fileserver\users$\%username%
and run "net use" command with /persistent switch. But the mapping
still can not stay.
help appreciated!
This is a common problem - I believe that enabling "always wait for
network at startup and logon" for all workstations via group
policy, will resolve it. Google for that text string for more
info.
