Re: Domains Problem

Hello Ozgur,

If you review the ADMTv3 migration guide, there is a detailed description about migrating user workstations to the new domain on page 77:

Hello Ozgur,

Use ADMT v3 for moving to the new domain, but it must have another
name, same name is not possible!!! Data you can copy with robocopy
from ressource kit and the shares you can export/import via registry
key.

Hi,

I have 2 domains. One of them can be called disaster because:

- Windows 2000 domain
- Somehow do not have DNS installed (Dont know how ad works)
- Has shares everywhere
- Has users logging in as admins etc.
- Has client computers (about 18) that are in the domain.
The other domain I have is the new one that we planned and
implemented
everything is as it is supposed to be.
Now my question is:

I would like to migrate all the users and all the shares to the new
domain. But what I cannot do is go to the computers that are in the
old domain and add them to the new domain (I know I better but
administration do not want me to.. And do not ask me why. I dont
even know)

Is there any way to solve this problem ?

Please share your thoughts.

Thanks!

Thank you for your help. As I have told you I cannot touch the
computers that are in the old domain. If I use ADAM and file migration
wizard I can transfer them to the new domain thats correct. But I
cannot move the old computers that are connected to the domain.

So basiccally I am asking a solution that I can migrate the domain
clients to the new domain without touching them.

Seems impossible!
