Hi all-
I'm working (recently hired) in a small school district (3 schools) where
each school has a server. I would like all users, particularly
administration, to be able to have all documents automatically saved to the
server. For example, when the school secretary creates the school calendar
and saves to 'My Documents', it's actually saving to a folder created on the
server. Currently, those who are saving to the server, have to navigate to
get there and as a result, most are saving locally. The ideal would be to
have the document saved in both locations at the same time :>)
Is this possible?
Thanks!
Mark
1. Take the ADU&C and give a homedir to every user (check the
creation!)
2. Take the organizational unit, where the users resides.
3. Open properties - group policy
4. Build a new policy
5. Edit this policy
6. Go to: User Configuration - Windows Settings - Folder Redirection -
My Documents (Properties)
7. Select: Setting - Basic and Target folder location: Redirect to the
user's home directory
If you do so, all 'My Document'-folders are re-directed to the server-
homes!
Good luck.
Peter
If you're using ms-office, you can also re-direct the standard-path
for documents and templates via Group Policy. You just have to
download the adm-templates for ms-office (office ressource kit), put
the adm-file(s) to the windows\inf folder and link the new templates
via context menu to the gp-editor.
So the users don't have to decide!
Peter
