When you create a new domain you give it both a DNS name and an Netbios name.
Usually you use the same name but it appears that they didn't. Eg. mydomain
and mydomain.local.
I am not sure of any way to change the NetBios name. I know with Windows
2003 they brought the ability to change the domain name but not with Windows
2000.
Cheers,
Lara

Hi Paul,
Thank you for your help with this. So no way of changing the NetBIOS to
display the new domain efg.com?
Thanks again!

What you are seeing is the NetBIOS representation of the domain. This is
normal and you can't get rid of it.

Hi All,
I just started working for my current company and would like to know if
it's
possible to fix this problem I have listed below?
1.) They used to have a WinNT server as their PDC named for example
"abc.com"
2.) They did an in place upgrade of their WinNT system to Windows 2000
and
gave it a new domain name called "efg.com."
3.) All other member server are now connected to efg.com and everything
is
functioning correctly.
4.) However, when user's login to their system, the domain listed is
still
stating "abc.com" ?
5.) On the username section I can put in username@xxxxxxx and I am able
to
login to the same profile. However I do not see efg.com listed as a
possible
domain.
6.) When I'm looking at the user account in AD, the "user logon name
(pre-windows 2000)" it's listed as "ABC\" and I can't change it.
Anyone have any idea how to fix this without impacting the user's login
profile or server?
Thank you in advance for your help with this!
