Hi

ADAM replicates to ADAM and replication topology (sites) is governed by ADAM
instances. ADAM cannot replicate with AD. ADAM can use AD for replication
authentication between ADAM instances and so other aspects of security.

If you need more information post back but as ever test/dev environment
should be your first target.
