Greetings:

Everything was going normal until yesteday ,suddenly all the XP
workstatios are prompted for a username and password when trying to
browse the shared folders on the DC ,I tried supplying in the
Domain's admin credentials but the login screen kept coming back ,the
surprising thing is that all the workstations running Vista is not
affected and still able to access shared folders without any problems
,I checked the shared folders and made sure that all the sharing
settings are enabled ,so what can I do now?
Thanks in advance

What was the last thing that happened right before this? Ran a recent
update, did you install something, did you change something? How are the XP
workstations different than the Vistas? Are the Vistas DHCP and the XP
static or the other way around? Perhaps they are on a different switch or
subnet?

For starters for us to diagnose this, we need to work from scratch basically
so, please post an unedited ipconfig /all from the DC, an XP and a Vista
machine.
Post any Event log errors (post the EventID# and Source names)
Does the AD zone in DNS exists and do the SRV records exist?

You MUST elaborate to better assist otherwise we're all here guessing and
I'm sure you don't want us to do that.
