Re: Remove AD from DC in safe mode

Tech-Archive recommends: Speed Up your PC by fixing your registry

it lost both network adaptors after a reboot(only used one) I can see them
in device manager but
cant in control panel. I cant add any amd I though it would be easier to
fix as a non DC. It doesnt hold any signifucant roles and was the 3rd DC
in a 40 user network.

thanks

We have a DC that we recently promoted from a 2003 server last week.
Tonight it crashed , after reboot it seems to have lost all network
cards. They show up in device manager but not in network connections.
Is there a way I can uninstall AD from this server in safe mode? It
isnt a FSMO and we have 2 others.
I know I will need to remove this DC 's reference from another DC. I
havent been able to do anything as long as it
still thinks it is a DC.

Thanks and Kindf regards

Carla

Hardware error with the cards? Anything else affected? No way to repair
it?

You can use dcpromo /forceremove

Delete the object in Sites and Services too. Then use this to make sure
all references have been deleted.
