OK, I took over as the IT guy at my company and have a mess on my
hands. It has been almost a year of putting out fires and cleaning
up after the other guy. I have FINALLY goten to a point where I must
clean up AD. I am starting to have pretty serious connection issues.
I will be removing our current AD server from our environment and I
want to know if I should clean up AD first, then replicate to a new
server or should I replicate, demote and remove old server, then
clean up AD?
This will be a service call to MS, so I also need to know how much
will it interfere with daily operations, or do I need to do it after
hours?
Thanks,
Jeff
May I ask what exactly is all messed up? What event log errors are you
getting? Is the domain name a single label name? Why would you want to make
such a drastic change as tio uninstall Exchange and demote everything? Or
was the Schema ever modified to the point it is not condusive to function
properly? I don't think that may be the case since you successfully
installed Exchange. My feelings (professionally speaking), if the domain is
not a single label name, then I believe a domain can be salvaged and
straightened out first.
