Best way to upgrade NT4 Domain Controller

I have one remote site that has 1 NT4 BDC in our old but existing NT4 domain.
The server has all of their data and network printers, however users login
to a 2003 DC located in their site. My goal is to upgrade the NT4 BDC to
Windows 2003 as a member server in the 2003 AD. I ran into errors during the
upgrade of the server that I have not been able to get past. They are as
follows:
Windows Upgrade Compatibility
********************************************************************
Replacement logon software
==========================
An application has replaced the Microsoft Windows logon software on your
computer, such as a biometric logon or smart card logon application. This
program might no longer function after you upgrade, which might prevent you
from logging on to your computer. After you upgrade, even if the program
functions, some operating system features might not be available. It is
recommended that you uninstall this software before continuing with the
upgrade.
For more information about this driver, contact the device manufacturer or
visit the manufacturer's Web site.
For a list of software supported by this version of Windows, see the
Microsoft Windows Compatibility List at
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=9946.
HP JetDirect Port
=================
The port monitor HP JetDirect Port will no longer be available in the
version of Microsoft Windows that you are installing, and the software
associated with this port will no longer run after the upgrade. If you are
using this port monitor, check to see if the device can support TCP/IP
printing and change the configuration settings for each printer queue after
setup has completed.
If you are unsure what protocol your devices support, visit the
Hewlett-Packard Web site at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?Linkid=37 for
more information.
For a list of devices supported by this version of Windows, see the
Microsoft Windows Compatibility List at
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=9890.
Compaq's System Management Service
==================================
The software for Compaq System Management is not compatible with this
version of Microsoft Windows and will be disabled during the upgrade.
Disabling this service effects Compaq Insight Manager, Compaq System Tools,
and Compaq Remote Monitor Service.
For more information about this software, or to obtain a version that runs
on this version of Windows, visit the manufacturer's Web site.
For a list of software supported by this version of Windows, see the
Microsoft Windows Compatibility List at
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=9946.
I have stopped all off the services related to Compaq and still receive this
error. I am not so concerned with the HP Jetdirect Port as I can take care
of printing issues should they occur. I am not sure what to do about the
Replacement Logon Software issue. I do not know what it is or how to get
around the issue. I have a regular Windows GUI login with no addins or
modifications (as far as I know).
Is it possible to upgrade this BDC (I promoted it to PDC & Sync'd domain B4
upgrade) some other way. Management does not want to format and reinstall
the 2003 OS and restore the data. I'm not sure that permissions would be
retained in this manner anyhow.
What are my best options to get this server upgraded and into AD as a member
server?
Thanks in advance for your help.
