Re: List of Schema Changes from Windows Server 2003 to R2 only

Actually the reason for my question is we have an HR application that ties
into our AD database, so our programmers want to see if the portions of AD
with which they interact are being modified. If it's all new object classes
and attributes, great. If their are modifications to existing ones then they
must be examined. I was just hoping to cut down on the workload by getting a
shorter list to review.

I would never dream of modifying the sch31.ldf file. That would just be
foolish.

Thanks,

Matt

Hi Matt,
Just wondering the point of your question..
Are you thinking of modifying the ldif and choosing only those changes "you
think" you need?
That would not be advisable as adprep (use the R2 version) has the
functionality to skip redundant updates built in.

Is there a way to get a list of the schema additions/modifications made
when
going from a Windows Server 2003 domain to a Windows Server 2003 R2 ? My
forest is at a Windows 2000 functional level and my domain is at a Windows
2000 Native functional level. I have a mix of Windows Server 2003 SP1
DC's
and Windows 2000 Server SP4 DC's. I know the Windows Server 2003 SP1
forestprep was already run on our forest because my Schema objectVersion
value is 30 (instead of 31 after the R2 update). So now I would like to
run
the R2 adprep tool to extend the schema before I upgrade all of our DC's
to
Windows Server 2003 R2, but I would like to get a list of the Schema
additions/changes made when going from a Windows Server 2003 SP1 forest to
a
Windows Server 2003 R2 forest.
I do already know about the sch31.ldf file, but I beleive that contains a
lot more information than will be used during my particular schema
extension
scenario.

Thank you,

Matt
