Thank you for the suggestions. There are no network related errors in my
logs when this occurs. The entries are scattered throughout the day on
all
clients on my domain (single domain, simple switched network). the time
stamps do not match up from client to client, so there is no system-wide
network problem. Also, this started only after the installation of System
Center Essentials.
There are currently 3 policies applied in Group Policy, the default and 2
that have been added by SCE. I only see errors relating to the "System
Center Essentials All Computers Policy" the other policies don't seem to
have any problems.
Generally speaking, the network seems really solid. The domain controller
is also DNS and the file/print server, there have been no reports of
network
problems accessing files.
Connection to the FQDN works fine. AD Users and Computers works fine too
from other machines.
I also changed the "Always wait for the network" setting in by default
policy, although it looks like this is specific to logon. My errors occur
throughout the day.

Thanks

Hi
You may want to check:
1- In Event Viewer, click System, and check for any networking-related
messages, such as Netlogon messages, that indicate a network connectivity
issue.
2- At the command prompt, type netdiag, and note any errors. Those errors
usually have to be resolved before Group Policy processing can continue.
3- At the command prompt, type gpupdate, and then check Event Viewer to
see
if the Userenv 1053 event is logged again.
4- To verify that the domain controller can be contacted through Domain
Name
System (DNS), try to access \\mydomain.com\sysvol\mydomain.com, where
mydomain.com is the fully qualified DNS name of your domain.
5- Verify that you can access the domain controller by using tools such
as
the Active Directory Users and Computers snap-in.
6- Check to see whether other computers on your network are having the
same
problem.
7- If this computer is a part of a cross-forest domain, verify that the
forest for the user account is currently available and can be contacted
by
the computer on which the Group Policy processing failed.

I've recently installed System Center Essentials 2007 on my network. I
have
not fully deployed SCE yet, but it's online and I am testing with about
a
dozen clients. It has updated AD and created a couple fo new policies.
Since installation all users on the domain are getting regular Userenv
1058
errors in their application log. It doesn't seem to be causing any
problems.

The contents of the error is

Windows cannot access the file gpt.ini for GPO
CN={8543EC65-C2F8-42D1-9097-637D7455613C},CN=Policies,CN=System,DC=domain,DC=org.
The file must be present at the location
<\\domain.org\SysVol\domain.orgPolicies\{8543EC65-C2F8-42D1-9097-637D7455613C}\gpt.ini>.
(The system cannot find the path specified. ). Group Policy processing
aborted.

This is repeated on a regular basis on all systems. I can browse to
the
location in question without a problem and the gpt.ini file is there.
The
GUID referenced matches up with the "System Center Essentials All
Computers
Policy" GPO.

Everything in the policy looks normal.

With the installation of SCE I uninstalled my WSUS Server and removed
the
WSUS entries in the default GPO.

Anyone have any suggestions on what could be causing this? Thanks.
