Hello,
create a group of user for "Remote users"
Deny this group access to the netlogon\default user, so they won't be able to use it.
They will use the local default one instead.
What does your default profile consist of ?
You may just add specific shortcuts like "remote vpn" to the c:\documents and settings\all users\desktop.
So all users logged on the laptop will have these extra shortcuts, while still having the lan one.

Hey all,
My network is made up of about 75% remote/roaming users who have laptops
instead of permanent workstations. These users frequently visit our central
office and use the workstations there as well as their laptops.
My problem is that these users need two different profiles;
A "Remote User" profile which has all of their icons/settings for using
their laptop software as well as accessing our main network via VPN.
And a "LAN User" profile which has all of their icons/settings for using the
local workstations.
Currently I have "\\domaincontroller\NETLOGON\Default User" setup with
settings for our "LAN Users" and a copy of our "Remote Users" profile is
sitting locally in the Default User folder on each laptop.
When new users login for the first time they are pulling the "LAN User"
profile isntead of the "Remote User" profile even though their laptop is set
to use only local profiles.
Is there a way to add a second directory in "\\domaincontroller\NETLOGON"
and name it "Remote.Default User" and force certain users to generate their
initial profile settings from it?
Any ideas are helpful,
Thanks
