Re: Active directory (LDAP) name has changed itself for no reason

Hello SwissJoschi,

Did you check in DNS, that no record or pointer exist with this entry?

Best regards

Hello

Since yesterday morning, apparently without any cause, the LDAP name
of our Active Directory seems to be changed. The problem appeared on
our Juniper SA 2000 SSL VPN gateways which stopped validating users
against the domain controllers. The error message on the appliances
was "Either the server is not a domain controller of the domain or the
Netbios name of the domain is different from the active directory
(LDAP) name."

Our domain is "intranet.erpsourcing.ch"; the pre Windows 2000 domain
name is listed as ERPSOURCING; also the Netbios name is ERPSOURCING.
But by browsing the directory with Softerra LDAP Browser the value of
the name attribute is "intranet".

If I set INTRANET as domain name on the SSL VPN appliances the
validation of
the users works fine again.
Also I've found, that it is possible to map network drives as
"INTRANET\josef.hertli" but logging on to a system with this username
is
impossible, there I have to use "ERPSOURCING\josef.hertli" (my
username is
josef.hertli@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx).
Also it seems that since yesterday morning we can't join the domain as
ERPSOURCING we have to type in "intranet.erpsourcing.ch". I'm sure a
view days ago it was possible to join the domain by the Netbios name.

What may cause a change of the active directory (LDAP) name? How can I
set it back to ERPSOURCING?

Thanks for any suggestions and help.

Josef
