Is there an AD setting to shut down users' workstations at night if they've left them running? I can't do this in a typical fashion with shutdown.exe and a script of any sort because all of our workstations are hidden from administrative contact - we run "net config server /hidden:yes" in addition to shutting off file and print sharing and our clients' Windows Firewall blocks just about everything else.
Anyway, since I can't just issue a shutdown.exe command across the network, I'm looking for alternate ideas for accomplishing the same task.
What about a Group Policy computer startup script that creates a schedulted task with AT.EXE in combination with shutdown.exe at a specific time?
cheers,
Florian
