Re: XP SP2 "Access is denied" trying to join domain

the clocks are w/in 25 seconds of each other.

both net use and net view fail on the DC but they succeed on another server
in the domain using the same ID/pwd.

i'll check into the security policy and user rights on the DC.

thanks!

Hi there,
This may seem blunt but I recall getting such errors when either the
system clock on the client was way off the DC clock or when DNS server
settings on the client were not pointing to the proper DC.

I don't see any immediate problem with the DC being a virtual machine,
btw.

Also, when logging in to the client with local admin account, are you able
to access any domain machines by supplying domainName\username and
password combination - does it ask for authentication at all or denies
with error straight away?
