Mathieu,
That worked perfectly. I must've missed that in the documentation
somewhere. This is my first attempt at creating .adm templates.
Merci beaucoup, Jeff

Hello,.
after adding the adm to the gpo through gpo editor, did you uncheck "Only
show policy that can be fully managed" ?
Click on administrative template, then View / Filtering
It works on my after uncheking this setting

Hello everyone,
I have created an administrative template to set 2 registry entries on
each
workstation across the domain (windows 2003 server ADS). At the moment I
am
only testing. After following the instructions in the following
article/documentation:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/windowsserver2003/technologies/management/gp/admtgp.mspx#ESNAC
I was able to create a new file and load it up (after correcting multiple
errors on my syntax!). I had created a new category and a sub-category
below
that and both of these categories show up, however the 2 policies that I
created are not showing up at all in the right-hand pane, though the file
was
accepted without any errors.
I have the following in the file:
CLASS MACHINE
CATEGORY !!Software_Settings
CATEGORY !!TM
POLICY !!OpLocksForceClose
EXPLAIN !!OpLocksForce_Description
VALUENAME "EnableOpLockForceClose"
VALUEON NUMERIC 1
VALUEOFF NUMERIC 0
KEYNAME "SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\lanmanworkstation\parameters"
END POLICY
POLICY !!DisableOpLocks
EXPLAIN !!DisableOpLocks_Description
VALUENAME "EnableOplocks"
VALUEON NUMERIC 1
VALUEOFF NUMERIC 0
KEYNAME "SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\lanmanworkstation\parameters"
END POLICY
END CATEGORY
END CATEGORY
[strings]
Software_Settings="Software Settings"
TM="Time Matters Enterprise 5.0"
OpLocksForceClose="Turn On Force Close feature of OpLocks"
OpLocksForce_Description="Changing this setting changes the way Windows
uses
Opportunistic File Locking so that database files are not locked by
multiple
processes and forces a close on the locked record. This can cause file
corruption in databases that use ISAM style or record oriented database
access. Change this setting to ON to allow the workstation to forcefully
close OpLocks for use with Time Matters."
DisableOpLocks_Description="This setting enables or disables OpLocks in
the
operating system. Changing this setting to OFF disables OpLocks from
being
used on this system, which is preferable for Time Matters users."
OpLocksForce_Button_Description="Enable the Workstation to forcefully
close
an opportunistic file lock."
OpLocksEnable_Button_Description="Enable or Disable Opportunistic File
Locking"
DisableOpLocks="OpLocks Settings"
Can anyone figure out why this particular template does not show the 2
registry entries as being policy items that I can check in the Group
Policy
snap-in?
