Re: assign permissions from the domain

I understand but that is not what happens. THe Domain admin does not have
local admin rights. So
I went to users /groups on the local machine (while loggin to the domain on
the local machine AND loggin as the local admin) under the group
administrators / add tried to add the Domain admin and my self to the admin
group. I could not select the domain users only the local machine name is
available.

Hello Terry,

So if you login as administrator with password and choose the domain, what
will you do and what is the error message? By default all domain administrators
are local administrators on every computer in the domain.

Thanks for your reply,
I mean domain user login rights.
I can login to the domain as administrator, but he has no rights on
the local server. By loggin to the domain or loggin in to the local
machine I cannot creat permissions from the domain. i.e give the
Domain or Domain admins permision on the local machine.

Hello Terry,

Not really understand what you mean, have you created a shared folder
and can not assign permissions or do you mean domain user logins to
the server?

I have a Domain Controller running Enterprise Windows 2003 Server,
also a storage server running Windows 2003 Standard Server.

The Standard Sever joined the Domain and is listed in the Active
Directory under computers.

The Standard Server will not allow us to assign permissions to
domain
users;
when location of user is clicked only the name of the Standard Serve
shows
up. This happens when logged into the Domain or local machine both
as
administrator.
Thus when logged in to the domain even as administrator, the he does
not
have any rights on the Standard Server. I have other workstations
and
servers
that I can assign rights for users from the Domain.
How can I force this Standard Server to assign permissions from the
domain?
