I didn't find one yet.
I know people that tried to copy files before. But then it build it's database, and anyway transfers files again.
But, what you can do is build the server on the lan, make it replicate all data, then move it to the destination :)

Hello Mathieu
I am running Win2003 SP1 and don't see us upgrading to R2 anytime soon. Are there any workaround for Win2003 ?
thanks!

you can prestage data only with Windows 2003 R2, which has great improvement for DFS:

I need to setup a DFS for a share ( about 350 GB data) to be used in different remote office. However the servers I need to setup DFS on are connected accross a slow network link and would take several days to create a full replica on each server.
My questions is can I pre-stage my data meaning restore from backup copy of my share data to the target member servers ? I assume FRS would only need to perform a check or some sort to sync any data that have changed, correct ??.. Is this possible ?? and are there any steps I need to consider before runing a backup.. ?? I read somewhere that I would need to
""allow replication to occur between two servers of that replica set prior to backing up the information in that replica set and sending it out to a remote location"" ,
but I am a bit pizzled since I don't I an exsisting relica set, In fact I'm in the process of creating a replica set..
Any thoughts, comments would certainly be appreciated..
TIA
