home directories mapping to root of share, not user directory

We are running Windows 2003 SP2 and are user directories are mapping
to the root share instead of the user directory. We are not sure why
as we have applied permissions as follows and disabled the fast login
feature in Windows XP. If someone could help us we would appreciate
it. Right now, only admin/helpdesk with full NTFS and share rights
can have their drives mapped. Thanks.

NTFS - Add Special Permissions to "Authenticated Users" group:

Traverse Folder / Execute File
List Folder / Read Data
Read Attributes
Read Permission

You may need to disable permission inheritance and make
sure that the speical permissions dont apply to subfolders of the root
folder ("Apply Onto:" "This Folder Only").

Share - Add: Change - permission to "Authenticated Users" group
