At the time that I had responded to you the first time there were no errors
showing in the event log. But now as I check them we have a new instance of
the USERENV error, starting with number 1030 saying "Windows cannot query for
the list of Group Policy objects. Check the event log for possible messages
previously logged by the policy engine that describes the reason for this",
followed by error 1053.
Yes, I did take a look at the link and started to look further into some of
the remedies listed.
I also read where I needed to check the permissions on the GPO for the
domain controller, and when I went to look at the group policy I am getting
an prompt to change domain controllers, because the one that I am trying to
check the GPO on is unavailable - yet this is the machine that I am logged
into that is showing me the error.

Hi
Unfortunately this is a very common error and doesn't have the same
resolution for every case.

In a small, single DC network we get this error in the app event log every
few days:
Windows cannot determine the user or computer name. (Not enough storage is
available to complete this operation. ). Group Policy processing aborted.
When this error starts to generate users on the network tend to lose
printing capabilities, as well as other problems with 3rd party apps. The
only way that we are able to resolve the issue is to reboot the server. I
found that this was an issue that was supposed to be addressed by the
installation of SP2, yet we still get it every few days, normally starting
in
the middle of the night when there are no users on the network.
I have run just about every gp and netdiag tool that MS has to offer with
positive results and still we cannot seem to find out what is causing the
problem. I was thinking about a DNS issue, but I would think that the
name
resolution would be completed without problem since the DC is also the
only
DNS server in the office, and there are no issues in the DNS event log
referring to this.
Is there anyone out there who has experienced this before and knows of a
resolution? This thing is becoming a nightmare.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
