Re: Security issue?

Ping times are less than 1ms

If you ping the server by FQDN how much time to get response?

Thanks for the reply.
Since I posted the orignal message, what has happened is I ran dsa.msc (or
dssite.msc, etc) on the boxes with problems and left it alone and it
eventually opened. This took at least 20 minutes. After this initial
connection took place the tools subsequently do connect/open ok - although
somewhat slowly. Running dsa.msc as you suggested also opens but somewhat
slowly. Barring network issues - which I'm not seeing other evidence of -
what would cause the incredibly slow initial connection and then the
improved
connection time after that initial connection is allowed to complete?

Thanks

Hi
and if you do from cmd
dsa.msc /domain=yourdomainname
or
dsa.msc /server=server1.yourdomainname
I hope that the information above helps you.

I have a small domain. From some of the machines if I try to run an mmc
which
needs to connect to a DC - such as ADUC, Sites and Services, etc - the
connection never is successful. It just hangs at the hour glass. If I
type
dsa.msc or dssite.msc from the RUN box nothing happens but if I try to
logoff
the machine I get an mmc error like its still trying to make the
connection.
I can successully remotely connect to the administrative shares on the
DCs
from the troubled machines. Previously I removed and re-added one of
the
machines to the domain with no change. Removing/adding any of the
machines
in
no longer an opton at this point.

I can ping all over the domain ok.

Some machines with apparently the same config, OU membership,
everythiing
the same can open the ADUC, dsa.msc, etc.

There are absolutely no relevant errors in the Event Logs. I'm at a
loss.
We
do have multiple GPO settings in place but I'm not aware of settings
that
could possible cause this scenario

I can open "non-secure" mmcs such as compmgmt, etc on the local
machines
with the problem
Thanks
