You do not have tho remove the machines from AD in order to rename them.

Hi, all

I am planning to move our SQL-A box to SQL-B (which will be renamed to
SQL-A) box. The 2 boxes are both in AD now. The proposed steps are:

remove SQL-A and SQL-B from AD
rename SQL-A to SQL-old
rename SQL-B to SQL-A
join SQL-A to AD

Could someone please verify if the above steps are correct?
If they are correct, is there any way to check everything in AD are in
good
shape as far as the original SQL-A is removed cleanly and the new SQL-A is
added cleanly?

Thank you
